I think it has something to do with the new regulations pertaining to portable medical records. Prescriptions are sent by something like email, but secure I'm sure. Medical prescription renewal requests are sent by the pharmacy to the doctor's office, by FAX, and the new Rx is returned by FAX. Medical reasons for removal from jury lists must be sent by FAX to the Court Clerk. I assume, in each case, a paper trail must be required.
