Chris,

When a cat throws rolls over and shows its belly, your first thought is
that it wants its belly rubbed, but the cat will sometimes grab your hand
with their forepaws and claw or bite you.

When she rolls over, the cat is actually greeting you and showing you some
trust. When you rub her belly, she thinks you're being aggressive.

She really just wants a little head rub, like sliding your fingers extended
forward on her head.

Try it next time. Maybe you'll get lucky!
