M8 is APS-H and you will need IR filters for colour work, I think the 
shutter issue is only for the original 1/8000th shutter.

Monochrom has nothing like it (it is different to film) and the M is 
preferable to the M9 IMO, of course the M8 or M9 will cost less than the 
other two...
