Bingo.
It's become a self-fulfilling prophecy, propagated by the internet, that 
photography income is dwindling so to make money you need to blather 
about cameras on your blog along with taking your show on the road doing 
classes and seminars.

Ergo, we get Mr Overgaard, Mr Huff, et al...
