In agreement with Doug here.

Creating special editions like this helps clear inventory while adding more 
revenue for the company. Even car manufacturers do this, eg. Ford F-150 
Harley Davidson edition.

There is a segment of the market for gimmicks like this. It's a win for the 
company, and users alike.
