The countryside around Ve?ales is very strange.  The hills are called
Mogotes,  isolated steep-sided residual hills, which are composed of either
limestone <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limestone>, marble
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marble>, or dolomite
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dolomite> and surrounded by nearly flat
alluvial plains. (According to Wikipedia)
