Why be semantic..... these all used to be called through the lens
viewing...... rather than through the OTHER lens viewing (TLR), ....or
RF.... or whatever they called a Press Camera.... or a View Camera....... 

Personally, I consider them all SLR's, which really became the name for
looking through the taking lens......

I believe "R" meant "Reflex"

The SL does NOT involve "Reflex"
