Subject: [Leica] M (Typ 240) shutter actuations

The unique exposure number in the EXIF of images I?ve made with my M are
nonconsecutive, non-trending, and widely variable. Even read as decimal
instead of hexadecimal, the numbers indicate many, many times more shutter
actuations than the camera actually has had.

The internet claims that the number of shutter actuations in Leica Ms from
Typ 240 on is not recorded in EXIF or anywhere else, presumably because of
Live View, where the shutter is actuated but no image file created. To me
this seems irrelevant?if the shutter?s been actuated, it?s been actuated,
and that is precisely the event of interest.

In any case, does anyone actually KNOW the true situation?
