personally I?d think that you would want the cards and your work
to appear as contemporary and current as humanly possible.

Especially given the that the Syrian Refuge issue is in the current news 
almost each day.

Making the photographs ?look like turn of the century? documents
seems to confuse the current and important nature of conditions for these 
children.
