Hi Tina,

My curiosity got the best of me, so I kept looking.  The airplane in 
which your father is pictured appears to be an early P-47, with the 
original canopy.  The later P-47s were fitted with bubble canopies for 
better visibility.  Their pilots referred to the P-47s as "Jugs".
