Thanks Joe. You would not believe all the guesses as to what this was I
have gotten. My sister-in-law said it looked like I took a picture from
inside my garage looking at the door. Ha.

So, you understand the thrill of weeks of putting stuff in and out of tubes,
columns, devices and not knowing if you have anything in there or not until
you finally are at a point to have enough to look at. Invisible stuff for
the most part. Yes, indeed, the band was pretty.

I have done a bit of protein work, but mostly DNA and RNA. Yes, EtBr is
still used, though in the classroom, not so much. Syber Green or Gold is
safer, and this photo is of a precast DNA gel from Lonza. I think they use
EtBr but it is all self contained and proprietary info. Safe and quick but
we cannot get at the band so will have to do agarose to cut it out to move
on to our cloning step.

Aram

It has been 20+ years since I did a gel for DNA.
I am more familiar with SDS-PAGE for proteins.
Do they still use ethidium bromide?

That is a nice band on the right.
I would cheer as well.
Congrats.
Joe
