Thanks Jim, I'll put that in train tomorrow. I see that there's a light 
engineering firm near enough to here, and I'll drop around to them with the 
clamp, and see if they can oblige.

On von der Gonna, I see that there was a man of that name as CEO of Certo 
cameras in Dresden, Germany, so I'm assuming/speculating that the clamps 
were produced by a subsidiary of Certo there. So, if that's true, then there 
are lots of those clamps and their quite possibly intact legs lying around 
the drawers of forgotten bureaus that were once owned by obscure 
photographers of a disappeared East Germany. I feel a mini-series coming on 
:-)
