Most of these guys are daily manual labourers, who physically carry, or cart around produce for at least 12 hours a day. If they do not work any day, they do not eat that day. Hard to be happy in such circumstances. I just try to infuse them with whatever dignity I can manage, both when they are working or taking a few minutes off.
