Nice series.  I'm glad that folks care enough to reflect on our military
volunteers.

When I talk to higher up airforce planners I hear lots of reasons for A10
retirements: airframes worn out, designed for hordes of tanks coming
through the Fulda gap not a problem.  Drones taking the place is another
one.  What none of them address is low level conflicts and the need to
remove hardened targets or vehicles.  The A10 does a very credible job of
destroying suicide car attacks like we saw in the rundown of ISIS in Iraq.

Anyway, a well done series of a time not likely to be repeated.
