Well the PhaseOne XF or Hasselblad H6 are pretty clunky cameras I'm not sure
whose style of cameras they'd be for.

PhaseOne XF or Hasselblad H6 with 100/150MP backs, the blue ring Phase
lenses are good but large/heavy. Technical cameras (Alpa and Cambo to name
two) with 100/150MP+ backs and superb lenses to use tilt/shift with. These
all cost even more than an S and I have no interest in them as they are not
suitable for my style of photography.

At the 'cheaper' end the Fuji 50MP and soon 100MP cameras are sub-M
prices and you can get a kit for the list price of an S body, and the
Hasselblad X1D is much lighter than an S kit as well as cheaper.

The S is a lovely camera, I rarely use my M system these days, it is so
well laid out (I think the SL is similar in design) but there are other
options.

    John - speaking as someone with 2x S bodies and 8x S lenses I think I
might know what I am talking about ;-)

if there are so many obvious better choices to shoot with than a Leica
S3 then why not make a few more keystrokes and name one?
I think one risks looking ridiculous putting any camera next to the S3
and saying "I'd rather have that one under my holiday tree!"

Near top of my list has been a Nikon Z7 or D5. I think a Leica S3 is
better than both those camera put together times ten.
Also on the top of my list has long been a Hasselblad X1D. I basically
have been dreaming about this camera every night since the day it came out.
I think the new Leica S3 is only 3 or 4 times better than this one. But if I
had one I'd not cry.

The Nikon Z7 or 6 by the way puts me back in use with my case of 90's
era Leica M glass but I might not be missing my M glass so much if I were
shooting medium format cmos Leica s series in its full bloom fruition.

There are several cameras that have more to offer, be it pixels or
movements, it is just picking the one that suits what you do.......

I wonder what reason it would be that this camera, the S3 is not the
greatest camera in the world right now?
Is there a camera anyone could think of they'd rather be shooting
with?
No I think not this is the official died and gone to heaven camera.
One assumes there are some great shots up there and the light is always
fabulous.
If we're good boys and girls an S3 will fall down from a cloud and
rock our photo world.
        I know I deserve it.
