Hi Gerry,

If you do decide to go this way, the following is
important:

    MR-9 Adapter and Leicameter MR.

The use of the MR-9 Adapter in the Leicameter MR and
the Leicameter MR-4 can be problematic because the
central negative electrical contact of the battery
chamber consists of three ?fingers?. The tip of one of
these fingers can slip round the negative contact of
the adapter and make contact with the positive side of
the adapter to make a short circuit. It is finely
balanced and the smallest movement of the adapter/cell
can trigger a short circuit.
One solution is to insert a small strip of plastic or
similar spacer between the adaptor and the wall of the
battery compartment. Insert it just opposite the
positive metal strip that goes up the side of the
compartment. The inserted plastic strip fixes the the
adaptor and prevents any movement.
