I first read the term Focus Stacking sometime between LR 1 and LR 3 in the
context of purchasing the Lightroom add in LR/ENFUSE.
I have used LR/ Enfuse to blend bracketed exposures.
With the renewed interest in Focus Stacking, LR/Enfuse has caught my
attention again.
I never noticed the plugin altering the visual content of my images.
Oh, it?s donation-ware.
Good luck.
