This is Pennyfield Lock on the C&O Canal. Once canal boats used it to travel 
from Harpers Ferry in Maryland to Georgetown on the Potomac River in 
Washington, DC. That was then. Now it is no longer used for shipping and is 
not always so well maintained. These days it often looks more like a 
painting, at least to me.
