    Changing the bayonet mount yourself withOUT having the proper
calibration tools is foolish. The flange distances are critical for sharp
focus.
    But, if you don't  want sharp pictures, go right ahead.. Titanium
finishing of the mount probably, would not give you any benefit. In any
event, it is best to ask a qualified techie for the answer.

PS- To Miro--Is the mount peeling of worn due to use? Most of my camera
mounting flanges (all leica) show wear from changing lenses and everything
is still in proper alignment.
