Tom, if this is your first attempt you did pretty
well. But since you asked for some feedback:
Lighting: You definitely could have used a bit more
fill light, and to keep it from being to harsh I'd use
either a diffuser or bounce it off an umbrella or
white card. 
Composition: Nothing wrong with the group shot, but
since the background is not particularly interesting,
I'd have gotten closer and had a tighter framing of
the group. 
Background: The bricks aren't particularly
interesting, and the block of green tree between the
columns was distracting to me. I'd probably have
picked something else for my background, but given the
construction going on you might have had little
choice.
