If the title of my picture had not been "Mr. Alday's son" but "spanish child resting after lunch". Then, this would not be an PAW "SNAPSHOT" and people would look the contrast, tones, eyes, background, exposure, etc... Would it be PAW "serious portrait"? If the title of other author had not been "scooter project" but " The Vespa of my son". Then it would be an PAW "fine art" or a PAW "snapshot"? Very good topic for discussion. Lovely skin tones. "Almost" a compelling expression. The background does the image no favors. And the image would benefit from a tighter crop. All the way to the edge of the hat on the top and right improves the impact immensely even though the brick wall remains a distraction. > > While I suspect that sonC's submission had a bit of tongue in cheek, as did many responses I find Rafael's response an interesting contrast. > > The "PAW--Crit or stroke" thread interests me. For the most part I enjoy the PAWs immensely. When "taken" with a certain amount of seriousness (serious about photography), they at times provide inspiration, and at other times an opportunity for learning on the part of the viewers as well as the photographer. > > However, I would appreciate a sort of indicator when posted. ie - PAW serious landscape, PAW snapshot, PAW serious street, PAW serious document, etc. This would give me some indication of the photographer's intention and I feel that I could would learn a bit more about the photographer and feel more able to express a useful critique from that vantage point. I sometimes look and resent the time to go look. Other times I look and while I may appreciate the singular image, or feel able to offer suggestions, I haven't a clue on the success or lack thereof because I clueless as to the idea, the intent or context. > > What do ya'll think of a "key" in the PAW subject heading? > -- > To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html _______________________________________________________________ Copa del Mundo de la FIFA 2002 El único lugar de Internet con vídeos de los 64 partidos. ¡Apúntante ya! en http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/fc/es/ - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html
