Er, right, Felix.  There’s probably a reason for that.

What “fine engineering” have we seen out of the French aside from the 1976
Renault F1 cars, and subsequently the mid-engined Porsche killer 4 cylinder
turbo charged LeCar (as seen in, I believe, Octopussy), and the Eifel
Tower...oh yes, and the Statue of Liberty?

I’m asking a serious question.  I happen to have worked with many French
engineers, and have equal respect for their abilities as I do any good
engineer...so don’t think for a moment I am at all “down” on French
engineers/engineering...I’d just like to know what you base your statement
on.  Cars have not been something I really think of as “great French
engineering”, except as mentioned above...

Ok, yeah, the Citroen, both the 2CV (Deux Chevaux) and the one with the air
suspension...  Whether they are examples of “fine engineering” or not, I can
’t conclude, but since they are so cool, I’ll give them a “by” on this one
;-)
