Jim,
I was going through some old ads in magazines from the fifties ... the
Summicron didn't cost all that much more in a body + lens package and the
Elmar is always listed first. Possibly because it was a little cheaper.

One thing that strikes me when looking at old camera packages ... the 50mm
was king. A producer could have 4 or 5 different variants of the 50 in its
line-up at the same time.

He probably looked at your 50's camera and lens and felt right at home :)
