Hi Sam, the move to digital may be based on "desires" for the pple u know and observed, but i can tell u there's a lot of other "needs" that you don't seem to be seeing. i'm not saying u're wrong in ur analysis, just that wat you observe is not really the big picture! as someone who lives mainly off photography now (freelance), digital enables me to - - send pictures right after a shoot to picture editors, right from the field. There's a need for this when i collaborate with news agencies. - - Enable next day / same day delivery. Yes i could do this with film, but that would mean my entire day would be spent processing and scanning instead of taking more shoots. Digital makes this fast and seamless. - - Cuts down on film and processing costs. It doesn't take long for my digital equipment to pay for themselves. Basically,. digital saves time and money for someone like me so that i can free up more resouces to shoot my Leicas with film in my own leisure time :) Btw, I did not place my Leica gear into the business cost portion......... basically whenever i thought of shooting film, i'm confronted with the fact that i can do the same job with digital and deliver with less hassles, AND charge higher without the need to cover film costs and processing. Now that's a no brainer! :) Boon Hwee - -- To unsubscribe, see http://mejac.palo-alto.ca.us/leica-users/unsub.html
