There are other costs, of course:

1) the computer

2) scanner

3) disk space

4) archival space

5) softtware

It pushes the costs up a bit. The archival space requirement just
grows and grows and then there are the time costs in indexing, etc.
It's harder to search digital media unless you do a good job of
cateloging it as you go.
