I wasn't quite sure what you were doing with the "italic" marks, and I erred on the side of literalism. :-) When I speak of "erotica," I tend to include a very broad range of images/texts/ideas. D'Agata you speak of as a "realist," and I see how he could be taken that way. I also see, in the way he alters reality, a move towards something else. As to what "Goth" is, I haven't come across a clear written definition, and for all I know, there may not be one. I know that what Kyle shoots is "generally" understood as falling within the broad category of "Goth," but he gives it his distinctive turn, towards humor/comedy, etc., and that's what I find appealing about his work.
