Which version of Photoshop do you have?  Does it have Bridge?  If so, 
use Bridge to select the photos you want to open, right click them 
and choose "Open in Camera Raw."  The photos will open in Camera Raw 
where you can do as much work as you want to on them before clicking 
OPEN and then they will open in Photoshop.  If you have any problems 
opening the Raw files, it probably means you need to download an 
upgrade from Adobe.
