However, when my parts were done the artist asked if I would come in the next day to help with the recording of the saxophone parts. Long story short, none of the mics were sounding good so I leaned on the engineer to dig around for anything we hadn't tried. He found this old Neumann (an M7, I believe, maybe from the '30's or 40's) which turned out to be the clear winner. The sax player thought that the mic was such a significant part of the sound that he wanted a shot taken with it for the CD (Canon 20D w/50mm 1.8 Canon): http://gallery.leica-users.org/album389/sterman_CD_SNAP_HC_small This version seems to over-emphasize the mic, but the art director and the artist like it, so it will be...
