As for the SD cards, you can easily check the camera's instructions at the time you buy it: they almost certainly will upgrade the firmware to cope with 2 gb cards, I know the DMR has a firmware upgrade to go to the 4 gb cards. Although the reviews do not say, I know the instruction book with my cameras quickly told you what size it would accept: if not, try it in the shop. As for batteries, we bought the cheapest ones we could to back up the Olympus for our trip to Antarctica and they have functioned every bit as well as the branded one that came with the camera. The slippery slope is the hidden cost of going digital: but you will find out ;-) On 09/10/2006, at 7:15, Norm Aubin wrote: > Greetings all - > > I'm preparing to order a new Leica D-Lux3 this evening - it's time > to try > digital capture - and I'm not able to go for an M8 yet - if ever. > > In addition to the camera I'm going to order a bunch of SD cards > and a spare > battery - and therein lies the question! > > I saw Brian's point about the 2GB cards being at the knee in the > cost/capacity curve - but neither SanDisk nor Lexar seem to > be able to assure that their 2GB cards will work with the D-Lux 3 > or the > Panasonic equivalents - whereas they both assure that > their 1GB cards will work.
