Subject: [Leica] M8 and the Future

I keep hearing how this guy tried the M8 and found this or that, another guy
tested the M8 and found some other wonderful thing,
etc. etc. etc. Then I hear that Leica thinks the camera is wonderful. All
hearsay. I have no idea who the testers are ( some WEB
guy who has made or made up a test report) or it is Leica who has a
marketing bone to contend with.

The fact remains, there is no way to test the performance of this camera
scientifically and in depth until there are a lot of
cameras out there, there are a lot of people trying the cameras, and a group
of people are actually testing the cameras with some
form of scientific precision and repeatability.

Wait, it will happen when the camera is commonly available, the firmware has
reached release stage ( note I did not say
new/improved/version number or otherwise), and someone ( or for my
preferences, more than 1 person) who has a reputation for both
scientific methodology and reputation does a real report or that there is
enough reporting from users to actually get an impression
of what this thing can do.
