The phone never works on crowded retail days because all of the people who know how to find the answer are out on the shop floor dealing with customers. I even tried phoning, and after spending vastly more time on hold than it would have taken me to drive there, I hung up and drove there (Keeble & Shuchat) to inquire in person about the status of the Epson 3800 that I ordered 10 weeks ago. Of course I'm getting no joy. They've already disbursed all of the 3800s they received to other people, even those who ordered after me, for reasons that made sense to them but not to me. This is about the third incident of being treated like pond scum at my favorite camera store. Maybe I need a new favorite camera store. Oh well. I got a chance to look at the floor-display 3800. It is indeed a nice printer. But if it's not actually available I wonder why they need a floor display? I'm starting to think I should cancel my order at K&S for the 3800 and bite the bullet and buy a 4800, but from someone else. I finally managed to get my hands on some Crane Museo Silver Rag paper yesterday, and much to my surprise (this was not documented anywhere that I found in the promotional literature, nor do I remember anyone mentioning it here on the LUG) Museo Silver Rag uses the Epson Photo Black ink and not the Matte Black. That eliminates one of the two reasons why I didn't buy a 4800 a long time ago, namely the cost and inconvenience of switching the ink back and forth. (The other reason is its very large physical size). Brian Reid LUG Saloon keeper and very disgruntled retail camera store customer
