Henning, nope to the ability to position your 4 mm pupils within the 7 mm or 
larger disc more easily or nope to the image being
brighter (better light gathering)?
Empirically, I have modest Nikon binoculars on hand, one set with 20mm 
objectives (dach prism) model and one with 50mm objectives.
I'm aware of the relationship between the magnification and objective size. 
Also the differences in lens design/quality. The larger
set is much easier to view through and show more detail in low light to my 
perception. No contest. My experience in the past with
telescopic sights has been similar. You've piqued my curiosity now.
