Technical discussions are still interesting for some. Quality still matters of course, or we would all have 2MP camera phones. That phone picture might please grandma but it won't satisfy the photographer nor sell too many prints or books! I was trying to stimulate a discussion that involved people saying what qualities appeal to them and sharing pictures to show those qualities. Big emphasis on the sharing pictures part ;-) Anyhoo I don't think I have generated too much interest there so far! Back to scanning and sharing from about 500 pics left from my visit to the EuroLUG folk. Cheers Hoppy -----Original Message----- Subject: RE: [Leica] IMG Iona and grandpa Fitzgerald work... Guys and gal. :-) About lenses and which did, does whatever, means diddly squat if you have no idea what the hell the light and moment of content is all about in the first place. Oh you get some kind of Leica 50 mystique one over the other 50 or otherwise. But in the great realities of life they mean el zero when it comes down to the content and light! And or "is it a nice picture with a 50mm lens?" Or any other lens! All that really matters regardless of the good intentions of the 50mm folks, is what matters to the following... "The ordinary grand father, G-ma or father-mother! Will they love the picture?" And if you shot it with a $10,000 dollar whatever lens it wont matter if it's a Leica 50, a Panasonic whatever or Nikon coke bottle! Or any other derivate of the focal length! Basics count! The basic facts of life are.. "Does the family love it?" :-) If they do you have a winner of a picture!:-) Need I say more about a successful moment? :-) ted _______________________________________________ Leica Users Group.
