It is not 1 stop.... not too bad.... If shooting B+W it matters only a little, if color print, not at all, and transparency, a bit more. But, yes, I do prefer faster glass.....and at the same price ( new and slower vs used faster) I also would get the used lens..... But then we are talking apples and oranges..... As for the Cosina lenses, I do have and use a couple. For the price they are really terrific. Does a $300 Cosina lens compete with new $1600 Leica lenses.. Not in my book. Zeiss is a totally different subject.... at half price ( new Zeiss vs new Summarit), I think you have a horse race...... Frank Filippone red735i@earthlink.net I believe the Summarits should compete not only the used lens market, but Cosina sales also (Zeiss & especially the Voigtlander Skopars f2.5 35/50/75). Though I'd still prefer a faster used Summicron/lux to a new Summarit. Speed still matters... D. >(...) However my real point is that the major market for the Summarits is us cheapskates that buy used (...) In some previous statement by the President of Leica USA or the CEO of Leica Germany, the guy said that the sale of used equipment is 4 times the new products sale. I think he wants a piece of that market segment (...) >Frank Filippone
