Well, in my experience, HIE provided great resolution, and less grain than in most infrared work I've seen by others. I always use a #29 filter, move the focused point to the R index mark, keep the lens capped until the moment of exposure, don't bracket, and develop by inspection so the film doesn't get overcooked. FWIW, my summer exposure in daylight is 1/250 at f/11. Late in the day I give more exposure, as I do when the season changes. There seems to be less IR radiation in the autumn, and of course less in the winter.
