Several years ago I bought an R8 when it was new as a Demo...it had tons of problems and went back to leica 3 or 4 times at least...anyway finally they told me the camera was one someone had returned, been refurbed and then sold as a DEMO...I asked about this saying that I thought DEMO meant the camera had been used to demo the product...no I was told it can also mean one that was returned with problems and then fixed and resold. This was told to me by a person, some lady whose name I forget, in the Leica head offices in NJ...if you are really adventurous you can do a search in the archives for my post from those days sometime in the late 90's.
