But then I though, "If I'm going to shoot ~40 rolls of film that is going for ~$40/roll on ebay, why not spend the extra $40 and just buy a 39mm IR filter?" The real reason is because the CV 28/3.5 with filter and hood doesn't obstruct the viewfinder, but with a step up ring and filter, it would, and I wouldn't be able to use the hood. I also have a 90 that takes 39mm filters, so with two sets of filters, all my lenses are covered.
