Several decades ago I was learning my multiplication tables, so I wasn't keeping up on all the ins and outs of IR photography :) Regardless, that's certainly NOT the issue with hotspots on the M8, since the sensor is not actively capturing data while the shutter is closed. I've also not had any problems with the same camera, same filter, and a Zeiss 35mm lens...
