But I have never unplugged the connection that failed. I always
unplug the USB connection end at the USB hub, not the end on the
drive. After the first one failed, I have been very careful and even
bought a special carrier to transport the drive back and forth. I
unplug the hub end of the cord and wrap the rest of the cord around
the drive to keep it from twisting and put it in a padded carrier. I
don't know what else I could do to protect that connection. It seems
like it's just a particular weak spot in these drives.
