Leica lenses are great, fine, no dispute. But as Tina said more than nine years ago: "I do use Leicas because they are quiet, unobtrusive, mechanical, and reliable. The excellent glass is a bonus for which I am very grateful, but I will not put the camera on a tripod, use slow film, and stop the lens down to maximize the quality of the lens if I lose the photograph in the process." I need responsiveness, reliability, compactness and a simple user interface. A leica M is the only current camera that meets my compactness criteria. Film Ms are amazingly responsive and both film and digital Ms have been reliable enough. But I would really prefer that the M8/9 was as fast as a Nikon D3.
