The engine is identical in ACR6.1 and LR3. You get better demosaicing, colour, and noise reduction as well as speed, tools etc etc,You cannot add 6.1 to your CS3. LR3 will work fine without 6.1 since you already have the same engine! If you have CS3 the latest version of ACR that will work is 4.6 . If you edit a LR3 file in CS3 then it just will not recognise the instructions from the later tools but it will still open. You will get a note that there may be a problem but it should work. So you can do the majority of your developing in your new LR3 and just use the simpler features of CS3 but have the layers etc that you want. You can set LR3 to be downwards compatible to the earlier DNG standard (1) but it doesn't really make sense to do that. Of course if you really like making panoramas then you want CS5 anyway. Sorry about that ;-) Cheers Geoff http://www.pbase.com/hoppyman On 10 August 2010 03:25, Nathan Wajsman <photo at frozenlight.eu> wrote: > Sorry for a possibly stupid question, feel free to call me an idiot as long > you provide an answer :-) > > I just upgrade Lightroom from 2.7 to 3.
