The waves run 2-4 feet and come at you like marathon runners. I've seen an 18-foot Cape Cod Knockabout almost leap out of the water on a wave top under these conditions. Rounding the point in a 23-foot Stone Horse when the wind and waves are like this isn't quite so exciting but still makes for a some spectacular pounding and splashing. We were under only a staysail and double-reefed main. The pictures are from last Sunday. As the old-timers might say, we bruised some mean water rounding the point. http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/rtaylor/PICKS/2010_boating/300_8735.jpg.html or http://tinyurl.com/3ywsf92 http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/rtaylor/PICKS/2010_boating/300_8747.jpg.html or http://tinyurl.com/25fun96 D300 17-35mm f2.8 zoom at 17mm at ISO 400 with only slight crops.
