The bike trip photos are nice, looks like it was a nice vacation trip. He or she is extremely near-sighted. I wrote "porcupine" before, but its a "hedgehog". Same sharp needles, just not as long. If you get too close, it turns into a pin cushion, with the pins pointing out. The cat knows that. Our other two do too. I've seen when kittens have their first experience of hedgehogs. Serves them right with all of those sharp claws they have themselves. Ewa and I took a bike vacation this summer and spent two weeks tenting around the south of Sweden: http://dlridings.se/gallery/v/Shoebox/s2010/20100707-_DSC2416-1.jpg.html http://dlridings.se/gallery/v/Shoebox/s2010/20100704-_DSC2308-2.jpg.html http://dlridings.se/gallery/v/Shoebox/s2010/20100705-_DSC2385-2.jpg.html You can imagine how it feels to wake up in the middle of the night and here this rustling through your bags in the dark. These things might be part blind, but they can smell food a mile away. The first two nights they actually crawled into our foodbags to hide when they heard us go up to chase them out. We'd have to dump out the whole bag to get them out. Ewa used to think they are cute. She thinks they're little stinkers now. Google has some better pictures of them: http://www.google.com/search?aq=f&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=hedgehog They hibernate and live in our yard. They like quiet, unkept spaces.
