I have no experience with that particular lens but a leica technician in Solms told me that "some mindless twisting of the focusing barrel back and forth" Eek! ;-) is likely to accelerate wear and loosen adjustment (in the case of my Summilux 50). Specifically if you develop any detectable play in the focus movement, it may cause inaccuracy, for example arriving at the same point of rotation from different directions may not provide exactly the same point of focus (visible under more critical conditions). May or may not be significant for you of course.
