Actually that one has excellent overall performance in my experience , not far behind the Summicron according to people like Erwin Puts. However I think that any lens can to some extent if the (stray) light angle is sufficiently severe to reach the front element inside the hood. The new Macro Elmar that I now have can be made to flare severely (worse than any other lens that I have) if the sun is directly in the frame. Have you checked for other possible contributing factors? Dirty front element or filter? Filter quality (if fitted)? Reflections into your shot from another source? The inside of the (extended) lens hood? My guess is gruk on the front optical surface. Worst case there is damage to the front element coating but finger grease is much more likely. Maybe post a sample shot?
