The matching of the sensor to the camera is mainly mechanical precision. A
web search will show how varied even high end camera bodies can be.
digilloyd has some tests on his pay site IIRC, I no longer subscribe. The
commonest problem is getting the plane of the sensor parallel with the lens
mount. The precision ideally required is microns, both expensive and
difficult.
