When I used to do my own B&W, I used HP5 plus rated at ISO200 and
developed in Perceptol 1+2 for 12 minutes at 24 degrees C, as per Barry
Thornton's instructions in his book 'Elements'.
The resulting negatives were a dream to print. The same approach may be
worth trying with Tri-X too?
