Hi Leo,

Your comment about the resemblance to mica is a good descriptive parallel, 
except that mica separates into layers, and the salt does not appear to do 
that.  In enlarged color images, the darker areas are brown, which, if I 
recall from my youth, was also true of some mica, particularly if it had 
been exposed to heat.
