The 5D is truly a?terrific tool. I still shoot the?1DsIII?however when I can as?it has a few features over the 5 that I like (7 shot bracketing, internal viewfinder light shield,?weather resistance), but as you?say, the 5 certainly does the trick. I?do want to start shooting some film again just to compare. In looking at some older scans there seems to be more color depth with film which?give subtle, yet lovely, differences to the images. As they say, everything is a compromise. Shooting both film and digital may help with bridging the gap. Thanks for looking. You were very lucky to spend extended time in the area. I'm usually a day tripper, as you know. Sure, the 24-105 ain't the R28-90 Asph but it really gets the job done for me - and obviously - for you. Try as I might, my (somewhat older) eyes and hands couldn't get shots like that to appear as I saw them through the viewfinder of the R8/9, mostly due to film scan resolution and a general lack of skill. I toyed with an adaptor for my Leica R lenses but in the end, the 5D Mk II kit just made more sense for me. I remember that spot well.? I attended the (then) Army Language School for a year in the mid-'60's, studying Farsi (Persian).? In good weather we would blast out of the Presidio at lunch time over to Carmel just in time to eat a quick lunch on the public beach and watch the, er, sea life. That's an iconic shot of the bay if I ever saw one. Lovely. Regards, Bob (NOT from my iPhone 4 - it's sitting next to my MacBook Pro while I do keyboard-intense business stuff in the Subaru dealer's waiting room using their free WiFi.?
