I just bought the sliding rack from RRS. 10oz.
I will weigh them to see the difference.
Carrying 80, 120 and 2x = 80, 120, 160, and 240 focal lengths available
Carrying 40, 120 and 2x= 40, 80, 120 and 240 focal lengths available
Option 2 may be a better spread, but option 1 allows me to leave the 120 at
home
and only miss the 240...
grrrr

You may find the size/weight difference will equalize
with the nodal point panning hardware required for the 80.
